Penylan WI Banner
As a recently formed institute Penylan WI(2010) Marilyn Morgan suggested that we form a craft group. Our first project could be to make a banner. We decided to take our local park as our theme; depicting the change in foliage plants and activities over the four seasons. Ansti Corellis, Sue Harding, Sue Brown and Chris Heathfield used embroidery, cross stitch, buttons etc to create the busy pictures, with animals, flowers, people etc. and several other members of our WI created mini emblems in cross stitch depicting items that represent all that our WI means to us; such as tea cups, cake, poems etc for the borders. Chris assembled them with a Welsh motif in each corner and our name at the top to create our banner. Needless to say this small group of individuals has increased to become a well established and thriving craft group with many and varied talents.
